The 10. 20. 30.

Updated: Jul 30, 2018

In the late 1920's Joseph immigrated to the United States and married a nurse, Clara, and together they opened a fitness studio in New York. Joe continued to invent new pieces of equipment and further his teaching and methods of Contrology (aka Pilates). shared from, The Story of Joseph Pilates

No, we are not discussing power point rules today. We are talking about the 10, 20, 30 rule developed from a statement that Mr. Joseph Pilates made while developing Contrology, now known as Pilates. Mr. Pilates believed in the importance of mind, body and spirit and by practicing daily it allowed the self to process, evaluate and adjust consciously, as well as subconsciously between sessions.

Deanna Dewell has worked with several seniors to achieve better health through Pilates. It's never too late to start.

“In 10 sessions, you feel better, 20 sessions you look better, 30 sessions you have a completely new body.” -Joseph Pilates

This famous quote has pulsed through the Pilates community and has been adapted by many as a strong rule to follow when looking to find results. Joseph's 10, 20, 30 statement was based on practicing Pilates with him 3 times a week for 55 minutes each session. This is of course followed with doing his mat exercises at home and applying what he taught to daily life. Doing so would equate to 12 sessions in a month when you would begin to notice the changes to your core and the balancing of mind and body.

By welcoming this practice into our daily life, we remind ourselves that repetition will reinforce results. These results are a product of change, and change leads to not only meeting goals; but a stronger, healthier version of YOU.

In his book, Return to Life Through Contrology, Joseph states, “We retire too early and we die too young, our prime of life should be in the 70's and old age should not come until we are almost 100.”

Over 13 million practice Pilates today due to its adaptability, effectiveness and the ideology that his program benefits the whole body.
